What is Turmeric?
Turmeric is the dried rhizome of Curcuma longa. Indian trade distinguishes fingers and ground powder, and regional types such as Alleppey and Erode. Curcumin is a constituent of turmeric; turmeric the spice and isolated curcumin are not interchangeable products. Do not treat culinary turmeric as a medicine.
